The Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei (World School of Traditional Martial Arts Federation) is an independent martial arts organization that seeks to preserve and promulgate the traditional martial arts of Japan, including Okinawa. It was founded in 1994 by Colonel (Retired) Roy J. Hobbs, Hanshi as a means of providing instruction, and certification, in the various martial arts he has studied for over 60 years. Hobbs Sensei holds senior grades in Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Do, Motobu Ha Shito Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Kobujutsu/Kobudo, Nihon Karate Do, KoKoDo Jujutsu, Nihon Jujutsu, Morinaga Ha Toyama Ryu Iaido, and Mugai Ryu Iaido. All grades awarded by Japan and/or Okinawa based groups. In 2019 Hobbs Sensei became Chairman of the Dentokan, and appointed Neil Malpas Sensei to succeed him as President of the Worldwide Dentokan.

Dentokan Mission: To preserve and teach the traditional martial arts of Japan (including Okinawa). We strive to accomplish this in an environment free of intimidation, politics, and other distractors. We further seek to foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding, welcoming all like-minded individuals, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, religion, national origin, or physical handicap.

Arts Taught Within the Dentokan: Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Do, Motobu Ha Shito ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Kobujutsu, Dentokan Aiki-Jujutsu, Morinaga Ha Toyama Ryu Iaido, and Mugai Ryu Iaido.

Membership/Affiliation: The Dentokan is largely made up of students of Hobbs Sensei and Malpas Sensei, and their students. Others wishing to join should seek out a Dentokan dojo, attend one of the Dentokan’s regularly scheduled national and international courses, or sponsor a Dentokan instructor to visit one’s dojo.
